I managed to whack through a bunch of questions this week by setting up a system to combine them into one big article. That way, it goes up on the Net and if I have a short answer for one and a rather longish answer for another, it all works out fine for the length of one post.

Why do it this way - because it takes as long to do the coding and uploading as it does to answer the question - so doing a bunch of related questions (perennials on the perennial site etc) it saves me time and gets you answers you can use (and that others can read)

And it rained!! Yeah. It was so dry out here (we get less rain than the mainland a few miles away) that the wild sumac and lilac were wilting. And when you see those plants wilt, you know it's dry. But they're looking a ton happier as I write this. :-) I note our gardens were being watered but there's nothing like real rain to perk up plants.

Want to congratulate Roger from Homer, NY on winning the freebie Craftsy course. Stay tuned, I'm working to get some more freebies to give away.

Remember - don't be feeding woody shrubs, perennials and trees right now. I'm holding water back from all woody plants and perennials starting the hardening off process. I'll only water if there's a serious 2 weeks with hot weather and no rain. Cool weather and no rain is fine. But it's mid-August and time to start really thinking about fall management.

Something I did this week that's really ugly in the garden. I picked up some of that yellow plastic "Caution" tape you see wrapped around things to warn you to stay out of an area. Wrapped it around the plants I want to move - WHILE they're in flower. That way, I don't forget them when they go back to straight green. There's a bunch of daylilies of "blah" colour that are about to meet a shovel and get put out in the field to wander on their own. And a few tall garden phlox of the same ilk. So my garden has all this yellow tape hanging about but at least I won't forget and have to look at "blah" again next year.

Ahem... this of course means I need some new plants for next spring. :-)

Craftsy Discount

I told you not to buy anything from Craftsy until I got back to you. And this is me getting back to you. :-) I have a link here that will get you a full 50% discount off the regular cost of the Vegetable Gardening Course at Craftsy.

http://www.craftsy.com/ext/DougGreen_4611_H

I'm told this is a time sensitive link that may disappear after this weekend so if you decide to let it slide and then test it - don't be surprised it if doesn't work come Monday morning.

And as I mentioned earlier this week in another post, even if you don't want it now, lock the price in by registering for next spring when you do want it.

Just sayin' :-)

Questions.

I'm still working on the existing queue so please have patience. Watch this spot for the next question open period. Thanks for your patience.

There were some great questions this week that I could answer in short, concise ways (and a few of the other longer kind)

If you would like some information on moss on your garden, eggplants (not so much there) cabbages and brussels sprouts, then you may want to slide over here and check it out.

Similarly, if you need some perennial flower answers about getting rid of bamboo, some issues with hollyhock flowers and slow growing perennials, you need to get reading over here.

Reminder - I know some of you don't like getting emails that "promote" my books or courses. Those ebooks and courses pay the costs of mailing providers and content management hosting etc. They help me continue to do what I do- which is to provide honest gardening information to you. And we've hashed this out before but it does bear repeating for new subscribers.

The deal is simple. I will put in ads for my ebooks and send out special notes when I think it's useful to you (like the Craftsy notes earlier this week) and I won't apologize for doing so.

You have the option of unsubscribing at any time (there's a link on the bottom of every newsletter) if the mentions of ebooks and special deals bothers you.
